Viewbook was not available from March 14th 16:00 CET to march 15th 15:00 CET because of some difficult to solve networking issues. Traffic was not reaching a server on the other side of the US. Several parties, including our two hosting partners at Joyent and EngineYard worked together to solve this difficult issue. When Joyent assigned us a new IP address we were online in minutes again. We want to make clear that this is absolutely beyond our scope and even our hosting parties. Network problems can be very hard to tackle. “They’re usually something insane in a core router somewhere that you can’t get to and don’t know who to contact about it, and the diagnostic tools you’ve got to work with rarely give unequivocal results.” says our man at EngineYard.
