Hi Rien,

There’s still some problems that seem to be here since the new release.

1) The thumbnails from verticle and landscape images are different sizes. This looks really bad. Also it’s cropping the images randomly, which often looks really terrible. I don’t see an option to pick which image goes into the thumbnail, nor how to crop it. That would be essential.

2) Is it not possible to get the viewbook.com logo off the portfolio page? Honestly, that’s ridiculous if you can’t. Particularly for $25 a month. It makes it totally unuseable as any kind of a professional site. I don’t get it. You are close to having something that people can use as a professional website, but as far as I can tell, I can’t use viewbook without being an advertisement for you. That’s not going to work. Am I missing something?

Otherwise, things look real good, but this is going to be a no-go if I can’t get the logo off my index page.

Thanks Paul

Hi Paul, thanks for posting.

1. The first image of your presentation is the thumbnail in your web page. Horizontal images work best. They are not cropped ‘randomly’ it’s the image size that is different, that makes the thumbnail size different also. I can let you know that we’re thinking to make a cropping tool, to be pushed into a new release soon.

2. You can add a custom logo in your portfolio page in our ‘STANDARD’ $12 plan, see: http://www.viewbook.com/upgrades/

Thanks for your compliments, and let us know if you have any more thoughts, we need them to make our service better.

Hi Rien,

1) Ok, just for the record, it looks totally awful. I can’t use a page that has randomly cropped thumbnails. They are randomly cropped, because can’t pick the crop. And they should at very minimum be the same size.

2) I’m still confused. All I want to do right now is get the viewbook.com logo off of my portfolio page. Is that possible or not? I don’t have (or need) a logo to replace it. I just don’t want it on my portfolio page. Is that possible?

When are you planning the next upgrade? Honestly I’m going to have to bail out of this is if you can’t get the portfolio page to look more professional. I don’t see how this looks acceptable to people. The viewbook interface is awesome but if this is going to be someone’s professional site it just doesn’t look right. At very minimum a crop function is needed asap to make this work right. And I should be able (again, at very minimum) to pick the picture (not necessarily the first one in a presentation) to represent a presentation.

Also when you open up your portfolio, it does not show you what presentations are included in it. That doesn’t work.

@Paul: Some good points. I can tell you We’re working on a simple cropping/positioning tool for the web page thumbnail images. And we’ll add an option to hide the logo in the web page with the standard upgrade. I’m expecting this to be released within a few weeks.

In the meantime I’ll help you with hiding the logo from you page, i’ll send you an e-mail about that.

Thanks a lot for your feedback.

Note: adding custom logo is only available in the standard and pro upgrade.
